As many athletes which were to be expected at the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games have withdrawn from the games due to various reasons, it is quite possible that the value of the Commonwealth Games 2010 will be eroded a bit.
An example would be Usain Bolt who surprisingly is as popular as the Commonwealth Games itself. His addition into the games as a brand would have added a lot more value. Even though Commonwealth Games is one of the biggest games in the World after Olympics, athletes are claiming that they need to focus on “other” championships and have also pointed out security at the games as an issue.
Something interesting to note is that since the games are being held in India which has one of the largest populations in the world, I expect that the games this time are going to be a lot more popular than the previous Commonwealth Games and will negatively impact the reputation of the players who have withdrawn not only in India but also the world.

Pressure has been building on Delhi regarding its progress on the Commonwealth Games 2010. Even though a lot of things have been changed since India took the opportunity to host the Commonwealth Games 2010, there has been a mixed reaction with how the development has been progressing.
An example of development has been – The Indira Gandhi International Airport which has been renovated and looks a lot more modern than it was before. I bet this improvement has been done to impress the foreigners, travellers who would be coming from all over the world to attend the event. The building structures, roads and everything is quite impressive however just having a look from outside and you would notice how backward the country really is.
However something disappointing has been the removal of poor people, slums that had been in visibility from the places which are part of the Commonwealth Event. Much of these people will have nowhere to go since the Government does not really do much.
Much of the developments have been done to impress the foreigners with no benefit for the Indian people themselves.
