Recently I had posted a story regarding Commonwealth Games to be impacting the country’s prostitution industry. Apparently it seems true to a big extent cause according to our server logs, many visitors are being tracked to be searching for sex during commonwealth games, rates for sex services, and other related massage services in Delhi.
The 2010 Commonwealth Games are going to give a big boost to the industry and I expect that it is definitely going to divert some attention of the Government and the public towards this industry.
The only harm that I see is that many children are going to be recruited to be exploited by the visitors not only from outside but mainly from the country itself. Something that favours the tourists is the low price of sex workers in the country. Something that does not favours them is the chance of getting a disease.

The Commonwealth Games in Delhi would be starting in the month of October and the event is expected to pull millions of visitors in the capital with a significant number of foreigners also visiting the capital to be a part of the games.
India has a billion dollar prostitution industry with the Government reporting in 2007 that more than 2.8 Million prostitutes were actively involved in the business. Interestingly a 1996 report from Human Rights Watch reported that there were more than 10 million sex workers in the country while BBC reported that there were more than 3 million prostitutes already in 2003-2004. It is likely that the Government has under reported the exact figures to prevent media attention towards the industry.
Unlike many other Asian countries, India is one of the few where prostitution is actually legal. With the Commonwealth Games 2010 coming up at Delhi, the business is likely to have visits of foreign clients who would be paying a lot more than the usual local clients. The Capital is already well known in the country for its GB Road District where thousands of prostitutes serve hundreds of thousands of clients annually.
At the moment, prostitution is a bit taboo in the country and that is one of the reasons why the Government has not put much closure regarding the business at the light of the Delhi Games. It is likely that prostitutes from all across the country would be visiting the capital to offer their services.
Now there are a few problems with the Prostitution Industry that are to be highlighted – since foreign clients would be having a visit at the brothels in the capital, there would be people who would be luring young girls into this business. That means virgin girls as young as nine, even lesser than that would be serving these people. I am quite sure that the Police is quite aware of this and even these people would be getting themselves involved with these young prostitutes.
Statistics reveal that more than 30 percent of the sex workers in the country get themselves involved before the age of 18 years and that is quite alarming. It is quite unfortunate that nothing would be done regarding the situation.

The country’s capital will soon be in panic mode as it only has a limited amount of time before the games (Its from October of this year!!). Reports regarding the status of infrastructure developments for the 2010 Games are coming up and they do not look good.
One of them is the delay in village towers which the company that has been handed the project blames on a shortage of manpower. I find it ridiculous that even though the country has surplus of unemployed men looking for a job, the company “ITDC” manages to claim that they are not able to find enough people for the work to be done.
The games might just end up being a headache for the Government. It is no doubt that the Government will blame the 2010 Games for not focussing on other things in the country that it is responsible for.
Perhaps the Government should have some kind of rating or grading system where it reviews the history of the company before handling them projects that could damage the reputation of the country.

Many athletes have started withdrawing from competing at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Competitors including Olympic Champion Victoria Pendleton, Usain Bolt, Jessica Ennis and many more have withdrawn from the games which are going to be held at Delhi.
Though some of the sportsmen have attributed the reason for their withdrawal is focus on other games, some have laid out there concerns on security at the Commonwealth Games 2010. Even though there would be a lot of policemen, and army personnels to prevent anything wrong from happening, these athletes believe that the games at Delhi are more vulnerable to attacks as compared to other countries where the games have been previously held.
The Commonwealth Games are expected to be one of the most expensive commonwealth games ever and news regarding withdrawal of players can not only undermine the value of the games but also affect the exposure that the country expects through the games.

Before the FIFA World Cup 2010 Final, Pulpo Paul made his prediction that Spain was going to win the World Cup and it seems that his prediction for spain winning against the Netherlands in the World Cup has been accurate.
The interesting thing about all this is that Paul is actually an octopus and for making every prediction he is presented with two boxes containing food, marked with flag of a national team on it.
Seems to me he can be a good asset for bookmakers especially when it will reduce your chances of losing almost half a million pounds. If only had that guy had listened to this octopus.
Considering that his predictions have not been accurate throughout his career, and I am not sure on what basis does he make the prediction but now this octopus faces anger from the Germans who want to cook this octopus because of his predictions on Germany losing against Spain.

In case you have checked the rankings at the Fifa website, it is quite surprising to note that European and American teams dominate the top list in FIFA World Rankings. Japan is the only Asian country that has been able to rank in the top 50 of the list while countries like India and China do not seem to rank up anywhere on the list.
It is quite understandable that India’s main interest has been in Cricket and the Indian cricket team performs quite well in Cricket matches however with a talent pool of more than a billion people, some of the resources can always be spent at different things. Not everyone wants to be a cricket player, some people really have interest in soccer and should be trained well enough.
Considering that much of the world population resides in Asia, there should be more Asian teams ranking. This actually puts a focus on the ministry of sports of these countries as to why the countries are not performing well.
One of the reasons can be corruption – People paying the ministry to represent the country at football matches? Quite possible considering that corruption is quite high in these countries. The other reason can be lack of proper sports facilities for games like soccer.

Pressure has been building on Delhi regarding its progress on the Commonwealth Games 2010. Even though a lot of things have been changed since India took the opportunity to host the Commonwealth Games 2010, there has been a mixed reaction with how the development has been progressing.
An example of development has been – The Indira Gandhi International Airport which has been renovated and looks a lot more modern than it was before. I bet this improvement has been done to impress the foreigners, travellers who would be coming from all over the world to attend the event. The building structures, roads and everything is quite impressive however just having a look from outside and you would notice how backward the country really is.
However something disappointing has been the removal of poor people, slums that had been in visibility from the places which are part of the Commonwealth Event. Much of these people will have nowhere to go since the Government does not really do much.
Much of the developments have been done to impress the foreigners with no benefit for the Indian people themselves.
