The Capello Index website displays the score by using the data of the football player’s previous matches and is regularly updated after the ending of each match, showing the performance level of the player. Fabio Capello who is England’s manager and involved in the creation of the website had faced criticism because the website displaying marks for the team’s players despite repeated requests for their removal.
The website featured Premier League’s logo without permission and offered ratings and statistics from the competition. However as the website did not had the required licenses, it would have been in violation of copyright.
It is being claimed that Capello himself was not involved in the marking of the players but there was a scientific algorithm that was actually responsible for scores that were given to the players in the index.
Nevertheless the whole event has been a PR disaster for the Football Association which has decided that Capello will not be allowed to get himself allowed in any business deals without their prior permission.
